External Borders Fund (EBF)

The objective of the External Borders Fund is to contribute to the development of a European integrated border management system for external borders. A total of EUR 1,820 million has been reserved for the External Borders Fund for the period 2007-2013, to be distributed among all EU Member States.

The Fund contributes to achieving the following objectives:
• efficient organisation of control, covering both checks and surveillance tasks relating to the external borders
• more efficient management of the flows of persons at the external borders
• improvement of the management of activities organised by the consular and other services of the Member States in third countries.
