OrganizationThe Commander heads the West Finland Coast Guard District. The Headquarters supports the Commander and the District units. It is divided into Technical Office, Personnel Office and Operative Office. The District command centres in Turku and Vaasa report to the Operative Office. The centre in Turku also functions as a maritime rescue co-ordination centre (MRCC Turku) and the one in Vaasa as a maritime rescue sub centre (MRSC Vaasa). Service bases in Latokari, Turku and in Vaasa report to the Technical Office. Coast guard areas are divided into a command place and coast guard stations. In addition, Turku surveillance group is a part of the Turku coast guard area. Patrol Vessels report directly to the Commander.
