Border Crossing Points

The international border crossing points in the operational area:

  • Mariehamn, Turku, Pori, Vaasa, Kruunupyy, Oulu, Kemi-Tornio, Tampere-Pirkkala and Jyväskylä airports
  • ports (see for list of ports 901/2006, in Finnish and Swedish only)

Border checks are carried out only when travelled outside the Schengen area, therefore border checks do not concern people travelling within the Schengen area. Out of all border crossing points, only in the Tampere-Pirkkala airport there are regularly operated flights that require border checks. In addition, in the other airports there are occasional flights arriving or departing outside the Schengen area thus requiring border checks to be carried out.
